My original journal was Letters to the Internet (actually, it was southern fried, but the theme just didn't have enough behind it to keep it going) because most weblogs remind me of letters. I spent quite a bit of energy looking for penpals over the last few years, simply for the love of writing, but they all petered out after a while. Am I that boring?! NO! It couldn't be so! *wink*
At any rate, here is my Letter to the Internet:
Dear Internet,
What a weekend. Pardon the cliche, but it was hotter than a firecracker on the Fourth of July. Had the dogs been willing, I would have hosed them down just to cool them off, but as much as they like swimming in ponds, they run like hell from the water hose.
I had lunch with a friend on Saturday. It was so good to see him, but for some reason, I was so nervous my mouth was dry. That's because so much has changed since the last time we met, and I wasn't sure how it would go between us. I babbled like an idiot, noticed the eyebrows raise a time or two - what on earth is her problem?
But it was good to see him, no matter how brief the visit.
We went walking in the gardens, and it was really too hot for that...when my skin started prickling, I knew I was headed for trouble and needed to leave.
This August has gone beyond unforgiving to brutal. I wish for autumn and its echoes of some undefinable...something..., the brilliant burst of life and the ashing of leaves, the balm after the burning, and even the wistfulness you can sense on a crisp wind.
Soon.
Mara

I think I remember this entry. I did not know you were the other. I used to read the Southern Fried journal.
YOU OLD GIRL U, STILL FOOLIN AROUND I SEE....GOOD FOR U. BERT
No you are not boring at all, lol. I think with the end of summer coming on people are away on final vacations, then getting their kids prepared for school and there is just something about the end of summer that makes you feel as if you need to run out and handle every little detail before it ends and fall is upon you because you know fall is a time for relaxing in the great weather, watching the leaves change colors, etc. (Now the wonderful weather part well sometimes Louisiana gets that blessing but most the time we are hot, hot, hot all the time. Can't begin to tell you how many Thanksgivings and Christmas's I have spent in shorts, lmao) and then of course winter comes on and that is hibernation time for the masses so look for higher hit counter numbers and many more comments in the comment section, lol. Then spring hits like a breath of fresh air and we are back outside again but at night when it is still a bit cool we come inside do our comments, etc and then here's summer again and at the beginning through the most of it, we are inside sweltering so we are visiting j's and commenting away until the very end when we rush like mad to do the things we should have already done all summer long, lol. I happen to like your journal very much! Of course I have been really poor with my comments over the last month or two but hey winter is just around the corner, lol. Brandy
