off adventuring

it's hard to tell whether or not this is some kind of midlife crisis, or if i'm finally getting off my duff and concentrating on living.

i have charted a course for adventure, have gone through the wishes i had done that and now plan to make it a reality.

first on the list - i'm becoming involved in emergency services.  it's the best way, i think, to give back to the community.  not sure what area of es...i'm thinking first responders.  i'll need some courses.

next...i want to GO places i've never been.  maybe take the grandkids with me.  it's always fun when you have someone else to share with.  museums, boat rides...salt water fishing.  camping!  never done that.

life is too short to spend it in limbo.  i'm gonna strike while the iron and inspiration are hot, and make the most of it.

yeah!

Good for you Mara.  I think we all come to places in our life where we need to shake it up a little.  I did that after I got a divorce after being married 31 years.  Had a lot of firsts.  Now 9 years later I'm feeling the need to do something challenging or different again.  Problem is, I have no idea what I want.  One thing I have done and will do again is go on Elderhostel trips.  They are for people 55 or older and I know you are not 55 yet but if you have a friend that is, you could go with them.  I have gone on 3.  My best one was to the Black Hills.  They are very educational and also just FUN.  Also, sometimes there are trips that are sponsored by the city or county.  A friend of mine went on one of those.  It was to learn about the wolves in northern MN.  Both kinds of trips are relatively inexpensive
(a must for me).  But no matter what you do, it is good to be having different experiences and LEARNING again.  -Margo
