Was reading an article in the local news recently about a trooper who had been dismissed for kicking his K-9 partner. Actually, the governor requested he be removed from the force - and I wholeheartedly agree. And then came another article in which some highway patrol officials claim that abusive treatment (i.e., kicking the animals) is required discipline/training.
Personally, I don't want to be stopped by some cop who kicks his partner and thinks it's ok, and was relieved to read this article stating the K-9 operations had been suspended pending a hearing on the matter. There is a video link in the article that is disturbing. I couldn't watch it.
Some people deserve to be bitten on the butt.

I would think that most k9 officers love their dogs because they are a true team.

This is horrible! There is no way they should get away with treating those dogs that way. That is not "training", it's abuse.

There's not benefit for them to do that. I have never seen an officer abuse his dog they would die for them. We had a dog get shot last year saving his partner..they have huge hearts and do not get rewarded enough. love, Sandi
I was so incensed by this issue. What the hell is wrong with these people if they think this is ok or normal behavior? Tell you what, let me put a tight leash around their neck, yank on it in a chokehold a few times, then kick them repeatedly while they are down for the count. I would relish giving them the same treatment and more. These dogs don't deserve that kind of treatment. I'm glad the sob got fired. I hope he never gets his job back, nor is allowed to own another animal. (Hugs) Indigo

I can't imagine that this ws supported in any fashion. KICKING? WOW. That is WRONG to me, also.
