How, when your kids were younger, when you went out in public and heard a plaintive "mommy!" your maternal radar kicked in, ears perked up and you were ready to do battle over your kid, or just knew a grocery store display had collapsed and buried him or her?
I thought those days were over, until today. The phone rang. I picked it up, and my son said, "Mom, what are you doing?" I responded...just sitting here, what are you doing? He said, "What's wrong?" Well, nothing, is everything ok with you?
And then he said, "Wait. Is this the Green residence?" No...is this Dale? He laughed and said he had the wrong number, and I told him, you sound just like my son, to which he replied, And you sound just like my Mom!
We had a nice little conversation and a good laugh. I wished him luck in contacting his Mom.
Dang, he sure sounded like my kid.

I had a similar experience like that about six months ago, with who I thought was my Grandson. He asked for someone, ( the name didn't sound familiar) and I replied, "Jesse, is that you?" He replied, yes...who's this? I thought he was teasing as he's great for that. I said, tell me Jess...what's your middle name? To which he replied James!*... I laughed so hard I thought I'd cry. Silence.
Once more I asked..."Jess, are you there?" to which he replied...who is this????
I said, GRAMMA!*....
By that time we both knew he had the wrong number!*... and he never called again!*

My daughters are grown but once in a while when I'm in a store I think I hear one of them call Mom and I have actually turned around to look. Paula

You just never know what will bring smiles to your day. Alot of my son's friends called me Mom, and when they'd call, I'd have to figure out which one it was.
Have a great rest of the week, Leigh
NOW THAT WAS A SCARY STORY..FUNNY THAT HE SOUNDED LIKE KIN, AND VICE VERSA....SCARY......ROBERTA
That's funny! I answered to the wrong kid calling "Mom!" in a store or other public place, but never answered the wrong kid calling on the phone! lol

And, yep, I still turn when I think it's my daughter calling out for me......... then again, she's still 13 for a few more days and lives mostly at home, but still:)
